This moment has been a long time coming, and today, we’re finally ready to share it with you. With a full heart and deep gratitude, we’re saying goodbye to Aurora Family Therapy Centre, a starting anew.
We’re thrilled to introduce our new name, Resilia Community Wellness Centre.
What’s new and why now?
We knew it was time for a brand that truly mirrors the work we’re doing today and the future we’re building toward—something to reflect our growth both as a team and as a community.
“It was the right time for us to make this change,” says Abdi Ahmed, Executive Director, Resilia Community Wellness Centre. “Our services have evolved over time to meet the needs of the community. While we still partner with the University of Manitoba practicum program to offer the individual, relationship and family therapy services we are known for, we also now offer a full range of services to newcomers to Canada and specialized services for many under-represented groups who are dealing with the effects of trauma.”
We also knew it needed to carry our belief that change starts within but doesn’t stop there.
Our promise: We provide a safe environment for all, where hope, healing and connection can flourish.
Our vision: We see a thriving and empowered community where the use of mental health is accessible to all.
Our mission: We are committed to increasing the overall mental health and well-being of individual, couples, families, and communities through culturally conscious, trauma-informed therapeutic and community-based services.
It inspires action by encouraging self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and accountability. But it’s also warm; grounding us in the truth that no one grows alone, and that we all benefit from a strong support system.
Rather than focusing solely on hardship, Resilia focuses on the beauty of transformation: from struggle to strength, isolation to connection, and surviving to thriving.
Our core values:
- Inclusivity
- Holistic and Systemic Approaches
- Respect
- Professionalism

A transformational partnership.
This transformation wouldn’t have been possible without the support and guidance of our partner, Honest Agency. We’re proud to be the first successful candidate for their Lemonade Project, an annual initiative designed to support Winnipeg not-for-profits and social enterprises through a five-month strategic brand transformation.
Being chosen for this opportunity has been an honour. The strategic, creative, and intentional process with their team helped us articulate not just who we are, but who we’re becoming.
Looking ahead
Now that our new name and brand have launched, we’re stepping into this next chapter with clear priorities and renewed energy. In the weeks and months ahead, we’re focusing on three key goals:
Priority 1: Diversifying our funding base.
“Our vicarious trauma and resilience program has expanded outside of the sector and across the country, creating value and generating profit.”
Priority 2: Expand our professional development program.
“We are widely recognized for our trauma-informed mental health and well-being services that help vulnerable and isolated individuals, couples and families with complex needs.”
Priority 3: Improve internal and external communication.
The brand and the website are just the first steps, but we invite you to follow along on our social channels and share this exciting new chapter with your communities.
We are just getting started, and we’re so grateful to be walking this path with you—
thank you.
