How Long it Takes to See a Therapist

Right now, the estimated wait time for individual therapy is 6 – 8 months.

The wait times for Couples and Families is 1 – 2 weeks.

The wait time for Homicide Bereavement and Unresolved Loss is:

It takes between 2-7 days for applications for therapy to be processed by our office and distributed to our therapists. As we are a practicum site for graduate students in the Master’s Degree in Marriage & Family Therapy program at the University of Winnipeg, our waiting times fluctuate with our practicum schedule.

While we stagger our practicum placements throughout the year to provide as stable a service as possible, many of our therapists finish their practicums in the spring, and typically our waitlists are longer at that time of the year. Aurora is committed to the larger community and we will continue to do what we can to reduce waiting times for service.

How much it costs

Our goal is that everyone contributes fairly and that nobody is turned away for therapy due to lack of finances.

Due to generous grants from our sponsors including the United Way, we are able to offer therapy on a sliding scale. We charge between $13 to $78 for a 50 minute session depending on your income and the number of people living on that income. Also, in extreme circumstances we may be able to negotiate some portion of the fees listed on the sliding scale. Please talk with your therapist if you have any questions about this.

Our sliding scale is listed below. Find your income before taxes on the left under either the annual, monthly or hourly (based on a 40hr week) columns, and follow that line over to the number of people dependent on that income.
